Cove Inlet Plaque Charleston SC
The H. L. Hunley submarine was sunk in the Civil War. Clive Kussler the writer put together an underwater expedition to find the H. .L Hunley. Cussler was successful. “After fifteen years of searching, on May 3rd, 1995, New York Times best-selling author Clive Cussler and his team finally found the submarine.”
The recovered H. L. Hunley submarine is a huge attraction in Charleston at the Hunley Museum. For anyone interested in see the remains, the Museum has hands on information for Children and adults to enjoy.
Charleston is a major port for shipping. As you drive over the bridges to Charleston the port docks are clearly visible. It’s a fantastic view from the Arthur Ravenel Jr Bridge.
We arrived at Cove Inlet at sunset. The sky changed colors very quickly at sunset. Suddenly a lone kayaker came into view while I was looking away from the open water and onto the marsh. There is a long view toward the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge which crosses the water from Mount Pleasant to Charleston.

Thanks for stopping by my kitchen
Have a peaceful weekend wherever you may be.
Great Blog and the Photos are very nice! I know a modest amount about that period in history but you got me more curious now too! Thank you for the information!
Thanks so much for stopping by. Charleston is loaded with history.
You’re welcome and I’ve heard many good things about that area over the years! I only drove through the general area quickly on a hurried trip to Florida some years back but I really should think about a planned trip to your specific town and check all of it out. I did talk with some local business proprietors that recently decided to join other relatives with buying property down your way to have as a winter home and still have their business and home up here for the growing season which their business revolves around. Good food for thought here; now I’m such a thinking and not as much as a footloose kinda guy as I was when I was just out of college days and packed my suitcases, tossed them in the trunk of my car and moved to California. I of course ended up back here years later so I do like the East Coast more, it feels right and looks beautiful during the peak growing season; I bet your area has the sights and smells of the great beautiful bounty from God, and so much to photograph! Thank you again. If and when I do plan such a trip I’ll be sure to seek your advice on what not to miss and what time of year to plan such a journey!
Have a great day!
BW, great looking doggie you have there! I love dogs and my current one won’t leave my side follows me incessantly; sweet little girl!
HI! thanks for your enthusiasm. I do not live in South Carolina. I visit there. It’s a great place to enjoy history and food.
HI! OH…! That’s cool then because that says so much if you have gone to visit there, it was obviously worth the trip and these folks up this way that bought property to semi-retire there says a lot that they chose that spot say over anywhere in Florida! And they can afford it, so it must be very inviting and enjoyable a location! Now I’m charged up thinking maybe next summer or fall it would be perfect to check it out!
Enjoy!
I’m “working”, but you’ve just made my weekend extremely peaceful.
Thank you.
Thanks! Share the peace.
Ooh, I’d love to kayak along there myself!
It’s a gorgeous place!
As a Navy veteran I’ve read about that period in Naval history. I’d love to see the Hunley!
Click the link to see the museum? Click the Cussler link to read about how they brought it up! It’s amazing! When I return, I hope to see it too.
