Dahlia, Butterfly and Bee CKatt 2019
A paintbrush lightly touches some trees with russet colors.
The air cools and the bees work slower, sleepily in the flowers
Along with butterflies.
Squirrels gather nuts darting in the streets and trees
Small birds feed in the yard on plants gone to seed.
Sunlit days shorten
Overhead a small flock of geese practice in a flying V
Their flight path leads southward
Nature knows an ancient rhythm.
Inside a restless longing sets in over the languishing summer day
Cleaning out and preparing begins with evidence of Autumn outside.
Our nature is an ancient way as season follows season.
But I wish to stop the tawny colors of the leaves and fly away.
Oh, Sky blue days and flowers linger here a little longer? My heart sighs.
