After the dog show = my computer and the “screen of death” story

Okay. Sunday I decided to venture out to the Land O Lakes dog show in St. Paul. It was finally zero degrees F!

Saturday the temperature was -27 F. Nowaywas I venturing out in the cold!

I had a fun time talking to dog owners and taking a few photos. When I came home, I downloaded a few photos. Okay. So far so good. Then worked on a document and sent that off to the author.

Switched to another software and whoops it wouldn’t open. Sent the documentation four times to the wizards. Decided to restart the computer…

Screen comes up, but won’t load and there you have it. After many fruitless tries I leave for Sunday dinner. Later that evening I called the help desk.

Long story…follow-up call from the help desk on Monday and the screen is still stuck. The help desk person makes an appointment for today.

Diagnostics show it’s all still there. Howevah it may be an internal cable.

They will fix the cable, if that doesn’t repair it, then they do a ‘restore’ to the hard drive.

Backup your stuff backup your stuff backup! Yes. Yes. Yes.

Having the time without the machine gives me a mini break from the digital world.

I’m thinking wow. This is very positive. I need to spend more time away from machines.
