The Northland is in the middle of a Clipper from Canada that has lasted for days. Today’s temperature is 1 degree Fahrenheit with a wind chill of -20. Yesterday and the day before, I went outside to start my car and fill the gas tank. At these temperatures the gas tank needs to be full to prevent the following:
“Cold and constantly shifting temperatures can cause condensation to form on the walls of a gas tank in the red, and soon water will drip down and into the gas. It will eventually sink to the bottom, since water is heavier than gas, which is bad news — if water finds its way into the fuel lines, it will freeze up, blocking any flow of gas to the engine and effectively halting your travel plans.” ~ How Stuff Works
Todays Weekly Photo Challenge is the theme Growth. These photos are from Potter’s Bridge, in Hamilton County Indiana. Taken in Autumn while visiting from the Northland it surprised me that the leaves had not begun to turn and still held their green color. This is the only covered bridge left in Hamilton County. It is part of a 66 acre park. Potter’s Bridge spans the white river.
Nice to think of warmer days while wintering in the Northland. Now to see if I can make it to the store.
Have a great day. Stay warm.
Thanks for stopping by my kitchen.
It’s cold here, too. Happy 2018.
Oh, stay warm.
