It was a beggar’s banquet sort of vacation, where I enjoyed food with friends on the left coast. A graduation dinner at Cafe Mare in Santa Cruz California was a very fine dining experience. There were 15 people, who all enjoyed the wealth of Italian food and cooking perfection. I had fresh halibut with asparagus and mashed potato and a very fine salad. A friend tried boar, which they enjoyed. For me, who grew up on the other coast eating fresh seafood, it was the the most perfectly cooked fish I have ever had. The restaurant was beautiful, the food impeccable and the feast was a happy occasion. It was wonderful to share in the joy with old friends!
Cafe Mare writes: “Using only the finest fresh, local organic ingredients, it is their pleasure to share the simple goodness that is Italian cooking, with recipes straight from the homeland.”
A happy event for everyone.
Berkeley Event for vacation was a concert with Old Bob Zimmerman born in the north country of Duluth Minnesota. Mavis Staples opened for ol’ Bob. Mavis and her band rocked it. Bob’s tour was a mix of a few of his songs and then lounge crooning of sad love about loss and disappointment…the musicians backing him were flawless. Bob played the piano, but according to friends he no longer plays the guitar due to carpal tunnel syndrome of his wrists.
Afterwards we ate at my favorite Berkeley restaurant La Trattoria . It was a fine finish to the evening.
May all your journeys be with loving friends who are kind and generous.
Grateful to all for a best ever vacation.
Thanks for stopping by my kitchen.
