Travel Adventures in New England Part 1

Here’s a look at just some of the bakery goodies that can be found at the Emerald Bakery in Milford Connecticut.

Traveling east in August, there were many sights and tastes to try.  The Emerald Bakery is a stop off for me, when I visit my cousins in Connecticut. My cousins took me to Milford to visit the Emerald Bakery.  They make a tasty Irish Brown Bread, which is found all over Ireland, she tells me.  The bread has a sweetness that reminds me of the Boston Brown bread eaten with beans on Saturday nights, with my mother many years ago.  (I want to find a recipe.)  The Irish Brown Bread is moist, dense and easy to eat lightly toasted with fake butter or real butter.

If you are near the Emerald Bakery, they specialize in wedding cakes and cakes of all kinds.  They have an array of fancy cookies.  The chocolate people were purchased for my cousins’ six-year old grandson, who is a chocolate fan.  (He liked them.) I liked the bagels, the cookies, the bread and the cupcake.  Yes, I bought only one and split it.  My cousins’s are careful with their diet, until the camera wielding cousin comes to town and leads them down the taste testing path. Heh. Heh. Heh….more adventures to come.

Enjoy!
