Barbary Fig Restaurant – St Paul, Mn

I went to the Barbary Fig restaurant recently with Richard (the purveyor of all things food) and his brother Guy, who was visiting from North Dakota. What a great little restaurant. I had slices of lamb shank on beans and egg noodles. The flavors in the juices were incredible. Really simple meal, but, man, what a treat. Richard had rabbit. Algerian cooking. Guy had chicken on rice. Everyone was happy. Nice lunch!

I had what they call Berouk for dessert. It looks French and I can’t remember the French name of this delicate dessert, but they are a thin cookie that is rolled into a tube and filled with a delicious chocolate and then drizzled with a honey of the gods that is infused with lavender and topped with lavender flowers. (Oh, please don’t stop.)

I am officially a fan.  Location: 720 Grand Avenue St Paul, MN 55105-3421 – (651) 290-2085
Open Mon,Wed-Sun

Then Guy and Richard meandered back through the streets of St Paul when Guy snapped this photo of the Food Network star Guy Fieri who “almost stuck his head in the car window today while I was visiting my brother Richard! He invited me to do his show! (Diners, Drive-ins and Dives)”  – Guy Lafortune

Quite a day for the food fans!

Eat locally. You’ll be pleased.
